The Swedish player Stefan Ericsson becomes the champion of 2011 but Finland as a nation dominated the final table and the total scoring (again).
Pokerfinnkampen 2011 was concluded yesterday, Sunday the 30th of October
after three fantastic days of Poker. Friday evening with the popular
Pokerfinnkampen Warm Up tournament had 145 starting players and in this
event Estonians were allowed to make a late registration and Raido
Ă•unapuu was happy for that since he won the event quite comfortably with
solid play from hand number one.
The
two day long Main Event with 131 starting players was a very even
tournament the first 14 levels, and at the point when we only had 36
players left it was actually exactly even score between Finland and
Sweden. But, like earlier years, Sweden as a team could not keep up with
the Finnish lions. When day one was over and we had our final table it
was quite clear that Finland will win again since Sweden only had two
players left in the tournament compared with seven from Finland. Worth
of notice is that the tournaments terminator (11 players busted) Stefan
Ericsson had this year chosen to represent Sweden instead of Finland
where he actually lives. Without that change Sweden would only have had 1
player on the Final table.
The
Paf player Jari-Pekka Honkala from Finland won the tournament and the
first money prize of €10,218 as well as a last longer bonus trip to
Miami for two provided by Paf. The best placed Swede was Unibet player
Dan Glimne on Third place. Even though the Nasty Duck player Stefan
Ericsson busted on fifth place he had secured enough ranking points as a
real terminator so when the dust had settled he was declared the
ranking winner and hence the Champion of 2011.
In
the event Poker Icons introduced new live reporting features with an
