Poker History For 14 years João Nunes was a successful professional basketball player and represented several Portuguese teams including the national team. With his team mates and after several trips to the United States, João Nunes got to know and love the game of poker..
After he left basketball, poker became his focus. So much that he is known for his dedication and huge part of the growing portuguese poker scene. He began by creating a website and building a community that is now the largest in Portugal. The next step were live tournaments where he played a major role by founding the first poker circuit in the country and acted as tournament director.
He is also the person behind the voice commentating the EPT broadcasts on SportTV.
Nowadays, João Jomané Nunes can be seen inside a poker room not as director but as a Team PokerStars Pro.
The highlight of his live poker career was a 123rd place at the PCA 2009. Since then, João Nunes cashed in in several live tournaments, including a 16th place at BSOP São Paulo.
