Matthew Jarvis is one of two Canadians who have successfully made it to the November Nine of the 2010 WSOP Main Event!
Having started to learn and play poker over six years ago through
friends, reading strategy books and as he describes it, ‘trial and
error’, Matt has productively made it past over 7000 entrants, earning
himself a chance to win almost $9 million.
Playing primarily online under the screen name "Jarfish" with several
huge scores, Matt has had no problem adjusting his game to fit in with
the live circuit. With his previous best live cash being just over
$20,000 at the 2009 BC Poker Championships, this final table appearance
will be the largest cash of this talented pro’s career to date. With
almost 17,000,000 in chips entering the final table, Matt has every
chance of taking down his first WSOP bracelet.
Born in 1984 in Richmond, BC, as the son of a professional golfer Jarvis
knows a thing or two about playing under pressure and being in front of
television cameras. Matt spent over 10 weeks of 2004 caddying for his
father on the Senior PGA's Champion's Tour. Hopefully this experience
and his strong online tournament results can give Jarvis the confidence
to help push him to the Main Event title, something he has dreamt about
since the day he picked up the game of Hold'em.
